Fall Celebration 2019 at TRES on October 31st!

Tue, 10/15/2019 - 2:58pm

This year’s Fall Celebration will be on Thursday, October 31st!
The parade will begin at 2:15 p.m.   Please read all information below. Parents are welcome to watch the parade. Parents and visitors are not permitted into TRES for the class parties after the parade. The class parties will be food free celebrations this year. Do not send in any type of food or candy. You may be contacted by your parent room coordinator for donations of craft items or small non-food items for goodie bags.

Parade- No changes from the past two years:
In order for staff to have a view of all students, the parade will take place in the bus loop.  Parents will be asked to stand on the grass island in the center of the bus loop for parade viewing. The students will exit out of the front of the building and sit/stand facing the grass island. Each grade will take a turn walking the entire bus loop.  This will also allow the students to see all of the other students’ costumes.  Please note that in the event of rain, the parade will be held inside the school and no visitors will be permitted due to space.

Costume Guidelines:

  • Children must be able to put costumes on over their clothes quickly without adult help or needing to visit the bathroom to change.
  • Costumes that perpetuate violence, have blood/gore, could be scary to young children, or contain any type of weapons are not permitted.
  • Play/pretend weapons are not allowed in school.  This includes, but is not limited to toy guns, knives, swords, pitchforks, etc.
  • Due to safety, masks of any type will not be permitted to be worn by students or parents. Face painting as part of the costumes is permitted and can be worn to school in the morning.
  • If a child has a costume that is not school appropriate, your child may be asked to not wear part of or all of their costume during our festivities.

Parking:
There will be no parking in the following areas:

  • TRES & FQMS Bus loop and fire lane
  • Car rider drop off/pick up loop
  • Please be considerate of our neighbors who live on Triadelphia Road; refrain from parking along/in their yards.

Consider Parking:

  • In a parking spot at TRES or FQMS
  • In the TRES overflow/grassy area
  • With a neighbor (carpool)

Early Dismissal:
We discourage you from signing your child out for early dismissal after the parade to allow your child to stay for the class party. We will not process early dismissals from 3:05-3:20 p.m.  in order to keep the front office calm and organized for our regular dismissal. We encourage all parents to use their regular dismissal procedures on this day.

Opting Out of the Fall Celebration:
We want to support and be sensitive to your family’s wishes/needs. An alternative fun activity will be offered for students who cannot participate in the costume parade and/of class party (crafts).

  • Please contact Mrs. Berdeguez by Friday, October 18th (410-313-2560 or lauren_berdequez@hcpss.org), so that alternate activities can be planned and offered from 2:00 pm until dismissal.  Mrs. Berdeguez will communicate your wishes to your child’s homeroom teacher.
  • Please clearly explain and discuss your expectations with your child before sending him/her to school on Thursday, October 31st.
  • If your child wishes to participate, and you need assistance to purchase a costume, please reach out to Dr. Tresler (tiffany_tresler@hcpss.org) for assistance.
