Our annual Hour of Code celebration is coming the week of December 9-15, 2019. "The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts." (Code.org)
Just like last year, students will engage in both online and offline activities. In Technology, students will be engaging in a new unit all about computational thinking and computer science. In the classrooms, students will be engaged in an unplugged computer science lesson. During this week, have a conversation with your child about what he/she has learned about computer science. If you would like to the programming to continue at home, visit Ms. Walker's Technology course in Canvas and find the Coding page. On this page you will find activities and resources.
If you have any questions, please email Ms. Walker: Stacie_Walker@hcpss.org.
Thank you for your continued support!
